Read this first

We are a competitor of the companies reviewed on this page. That is a conflict of interest and you should read everything here with it in mind. What we can offer against it: every factual claim is drawn from the company's own published material and linked, every clinical criticism applies equally to us where it applies, and we take no affiliate commission or referral fee from anyone named here — including from the retail pharmacies whose generics we rate most highly.

Not a prescriber and not a pharmacy — a free coupon you show at the counter. Paired with a prescription you already hold, it is the cheapest legitimate route to this medication that we found anywhere.

GoodRx blocks automated access to its coupon pages, so this entry draws on third-party reporting and GoodRx’s own published material rather than a page read at source. Coupon prices vary substantially by pharmacy and location — the figures here are indicative and should be checked in the app for your own postcode.

Our assessment

There is no clinical process here to assess, because there is not one. You bring a prescription somebody else wrote and this reduces what you pay for it. Judged on that narrow job, it does it better than anything else reviewed on this page.

The numbers make the argument the rest of this page has been building. Eight to thirty dollars for thirty tablets of the FDA-approved generic, against compounded combinations sold at $1.63 to $2.18 a dose on recurring plans — that is the approved drug at a small fraction of the price of the unapproved ones. Nobody advertises this comparison because there is no margin in it.

One practical note that materially affects what you pay: coupon prices differ between pharmacies, sometimes substantially, and sometimes between branches of the same chain. Checking three or four nearby before filling is worth a few minutes. A ninety-day supply usually reduces the total further.

The obvious limitation is that it presupposes the part that actually requires a clinician. A coupon cannot assess you, and the cheapest possible medication is poor value if it is the wrong treatment for what is causing your symptoms.

Reasonable for

  • Anyone who already holds a prescription for sildenafil or tadalafil
  • Men leaving a consultation — including ours — who want the drug at the lowest price
  • Men without insurance coverage for these medications, which is most men

Not for

  • Men who do not yet have a prescription — this is not a route to obtaining one
  • Men who would take the low price as a reason to skip the assessment
